Roses? Candy? Pshhh, this girl is well on her way to having a remodeled bathroom! Man, have my standards changed!
Seriously though, I could not be happier to have begun demolition on the downstairs bathroom. Justin offered to take me to a dinner and movie on Friday night or order take-out and begin the bathroom demo. Who would’ve thought I’d choose the latter? 🙂
My hardworking husband sure did a TON of work on this demo! There was tile, EVERYWHERE. Along with concrete, extra wall-age and a sticky floor. Below are some pictures of what this gem of a bathroom looked like just a few days ago:
Yes, there was wallpaper above the tiles. Yes, that is a yellow sparkly floor. And yes, you have to step up and into our hole in the wall shower. Unfortunately, I am not one of those people looking to “save the 1960s yellow tile,” so it all had to come down. Even the shower ceiling was tiled, with TWO layers!
So, demo began!
This would be the cemented shower floor that looked like the showers in a locker room. Yuck.
While my hubby took down the tile, I took down the drywall! We had it pretty much complete and disposed of in 7 hours. Too long for such a little space, but holy tile!
My brother-in-law came to help with the plumbing on Saturday, and by Sunday we were installing the new shower!
Much better! Justin had today off from work, which allowed him to finish the electrical, drywall and the first coat of mud and tape! We hope to have this space painted with a tile floor in place by next Sunday night. Phew! It’s a good thing we had lots of practice with the upstairs bathroom first! 😉
Oh yes, and who can forget our little diva?
